pets of the week

Trixie.jpg

I’m Trixie.  I’m a sweet, year and a half old terrier mix.  I came into the shelter with my two brothers, Fritz and Jimmy.  I’m considered a ‘stray’, which I think is a little deragatory, I’m no stray!  I’m a wonderful girl who just lost my way and ended up here at the Humane Society.  I am extremely shy, I haven’t spent much time with people so like to hide when they come visit.  If a new person sits quietly for a while, and is calm and considerate then I like to sidle up and give them a sniff.  If they stay really stilll, I might let them pet me and maybe get a cuddle.  I am going to do great in a forever home, with kids and other animals and people, as long as my new family knows it’s going to take a while for me to warm up and figure out my place in the pack.  Oh, and I’ll need some obedience and housebreaking training.  Please come see me.

Howdy, I’m Fritz. Good looking guy, eh? I like to describe myself as suave and debonair, while keeping my shy, retiring personality. I was living large, out and about checking out some good looking girls, when Trixie got us nabbed by the cops. So now I’m here, waiting for my new peeps to show up. I’ll be great with whoever I end up with, as long as they understand I need love, care, consistency and great clothes.

Jimmy’s my name, running’s my game. Yep, I’m a runner. Love to chase the other two, in fact that’s how I ended up here, I was chasing them and ran right into that dog catcher guy’s van. Dumb! Sometimes I do things before I think it through. I met a nice lady the other day, she seemed into me, but I was busy sniffing stuff - you know, checking my pee-mail - and was kinda scared of her. She ignored me and I slowly circled and made my way over to her. Gave her a little lick. She took it well, actually petted me. I’d be cool living with someone like her, or even a big family. I just need room to run, some TLC and a warm bed.

Visit

Stop by the shelter during our open hours to visit our adoptable cats and dogs.  All cats and dogs can be taken to our meet-and-greet room to spend time alone with you, your family, and even your other pets.  Please let us know if you plan to bring a pet for the meet-and-greet so we can be sure the visit goes smoothly.

veterinary services

We partner with Animal Tracks Veterinary Service in Viroqua, Wisconsin.  It is our practice to spay/neuter and vaccinate all cats and dogs before adoption.  There are time, however, that someone may wish to adopt an animal prior to spay/neuter.  We will give the new owner a certificate  that is good for 30 days to have the animal spayed/neutered at Animal Tracks.

We will not adopt out any animal that is not current on vaccinations.

We guarantee it!

It's not always easy to integrate a shelter pet into a new home, particularly if there are other pets in the household.  We encourage a 30 day foster period before adoption, and if  you need to return your adopted pet within the first 30 days of adoption we will refund your adoption fee.
